The Postbank fraud suspect Moketsi Mahoko has his case postponed to January 29th (2015) for further investigation after briefly appearing in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s court. According to the Free State NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping this is the final postponement and the case is expected to commence.
In 2012 Mahoko allegedly offered an individual a R1,5 million bribe in return for confidential information which would compromise the integrity of Postbank’s banking system.
He then hacked into the system causing the bank losses of R420 million. He was arrested in June after being on the run since 2012.
Mahoko has been granted bail of R1500.
Three other men, Boy Thekiso (30), David Motsoane (41) and Teboho Masoleng (40) were caught, convicted and sentenced for their roles in the crime.
