Post Office – a convenient stop to renew your license

The South African Post Office has made it easy for motorists and car license holders to renew their licenses at their office branches.

The postal company has advised car owners of the benefits of renewing their licenses at their branches, citing them as quick, painless, as well as affordable.

“The benefit of renewing your car license at a Post Office branch is that there is no extra commission at all, unlike shops that queue on behalf of the customer,” read the media statement.

The statement also indicated that those who renew their licenses at the Post Office branch also receive their new license immediately.

Only your identity document and a completed renewal form will need to be presented when renewing your license. The forms are downloadable from the Post Office’s website and can be completed in advance.

Motorists whose vehicles are registered in Kwazulu-Natal, will also have to hand in proof of address no older than three months.

“For fleet owners, the Post Office offers a bulk renewal service. The fleet owner pays the licenses by EFT, and does not need to leave his or her desk to do the renewal. If you are interested in using this service, speak to someone at your nearest Post Office or send an email to
