Residents of Mangaung Metro are reminded that the city’s water provider, Bloem Water, has been undertaking its yearly scheduled winter maintenance programme. According to a statement by the municipality, the maintenance programme started in May and will end this month.
The next water interruption will take place 6 August until 11:59 on 8 August. According to the statement, the Uitkyk Reservoir will be cleaned and the following areas will be affected:
Wepener, Dewetsdorp and most areas in southern part of Bloemfontein: Pellissier, Lourier Park, Bloemanda, Phase 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 9, Phelindaba, Bergman, Bloemspruit, Heidedal, Uitsig, Gardenia Park, Fauna, Universitas and part of Langenhoven Park.
It further explains that the purpose of this operational programme is to ensure that quality water is provided to the various communities. During this operation, there could be shutdowns and restricted water supply to communities.
The municipality is requesting all residents, businesses, schools and consumers in the affected areas to make the necessary arrangements for gathering water for cooking, washing and cleaning for that period.
Water tankers will be provided as and when required.
