Police shoot 2 at tavern

DUANE PETRUS – Two people are currently being treated in hospital after being shot by police at a tavern in Bloemfontein over the weekend.
Police Spokesperson, Annelie Wrensch, says police were called to a tavern in Phase 5 on Saturday to intervene in a fight between visitors.
Four suspects allegedly attacked the police with pangas when they tried to intervene.
The police then shot two of the men in their stomachs.
Two suspects were arrested and will appear in court today on attempted murder charges.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is also investigating attempted murder charges against the police officers involved.
