Bloemfontein police started a manhunt in search for two men who first hijacked a couple – then shot the boyfriend and raped the girlfriend on the outskirts of the city. Police spokesperson, Thabo Litabe, says the incident happened at the dam on the outskirts of Lourierpark in the early hours of the morning. He said the couple were in their parked car when two armed men approached them. A scuffle ensued and the 29-year-old boyfriend was shot in the stomach.
The suspects then drove into the bushes and took turns to rape his 26-year-old girlfriend. The wounded victim got away and ran to look for help. Litabe says the couple is recovering from the ordeal. Meanwhile, the suspects are believed to be hiding in Freedom Square or Phase two in Bloemfontein.
