Police officer suspected of shooting his wife and turning the gun on himself

A Bloemfontein Police Officer is suspected of killing his wife and then turning his firearm on himself. Police spokesperson Loraine Earle confirmed after a media enquiry that the bodies of the police officer and his wife were discovered in their house in Hillsideview, Bloemfontein on Friday night. She said the wife sustained three bullet wounds in the chest, and the husband had one in his head. Earl said the police officer’s service pistol was found next to his body. She said the names of the couple cannot be released as their next of kin still needs to be informed. Meanwhile the case was taken over by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate. – Cathy Dlodlo
