Police to launch festive season operations in FS


Free State Police Commissioner, Lebeoana Tsumane, will officially launch the Free State Festive Season Operations at the Namibia Open space (near new Limo Mall, in Bloemside) in Bloemfontein on 9 December.

The focus of the launch will be to illustrate the readiness of Free State law enforcement agencies to police this festive season.

The event will be preceded by crime prevention operations, with the aim of eradicating border crimes, stock theft, gang related activities, liquor related crimes and compliance, second hand goods compliance and road blocks throughout the national roads, etc.

The “Back to Basics” festive season operations which commenced on 1 November 2016 and will end on the 31 January 2016 have so far resulted in the arrest of more than 2500 people for various crimes and the confiscation of a number of alcohol, drugs, firearms, stolen vehicle and properties.

The MEC for Police Roads and Transport, Sam Mashinini, has been invited to give a word of encouragement to the members who will be working hard this festive season to ensure that the community of the Free State enjoy their holidays.

A new fleet of vehicles will also be distributed to various stations.
