Police increase street visibility

The Selosesha police had an operation during the weekend to increase visibility on the streets.

The Free State spokesperson Captain Tseko Mokgahle says they were working together with Vispol members to address crimes that include stock theft, assault common, assault, grievous bodily harm (GBH) and robberies.

“Lieutenant Colonel Sepeesa led the operation. Two suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm at F-section. While a 30-year-old man was arrested for armed robbery whereby the complainant shouted for help and the community reacted quickly. The suspect was arrested after he was handed by angry residents,” he says.

Mokgahle says the suspect was sent to Botshabelo hospital under police guard and will appear at Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court soon.

“In the process patrons were searched and five knives were confiscated. People were issued fines for drinking in public and others were arrested for drinking and driving,” says Mokgahle.

He says those whose warrants were issued will appear at the Botshabelo Magistrates Court soon.

“The Selosesha Cluster Commander, Brigadier Bonakele Nxabela pointed out that crooks who think they are free to kill, rob and rape should not get a space in the community,” he says.

Nxabela he is going to ensure that all residents are safe all over the Selosesha Cluster to make a safe environment.
