Police announces zero tolerance initiative

The police in Free State have committed to engage in public sessions with communities as part of their zero tolerance crime initiative. This comes amidst an increased number of reports on gang related crimes, vigilantism and mob justice in informal settlement in Bloemfontein.
Police spokesperson, Motansi Makhele, says these public engagements will help curb criminal activities and strengthen the police relationship with communities.
He says there has recently been an increase in the number of drugs and gang related murder cases particularly in Caleb Motshabi and Heidedal area.
He adds that investigations into cases that have previously been reported in these areas continues and that there has been a team established to fast- track investigations.
