2-4 May: There is still time for locals to catch a trip Around the World with Bloem Show this weekend. With family-friendly activities and something for the adults, Bloem Show promises to bring you a week that is out of this world. There is something for everyone to enjoy! The annual highlight of the Bloem Show is undoubtedly the Fun Fair, with carousels, a Ferris Wheel, and a number of other rides to be enjoyed by all. Gates open for entry at 10:00 and close half an hour before the showgrounds.

4 May: Get dancing at the Bloem Show’s FamFest that will be hosted at the MTN MoMo main arena from 15:00 till 22:30. The fest is hosted in conjunction with the Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation and Motheo FM.

4 May: The annual Sunshine Fair of Bayswater Village to be held at 2 Burgundy Crescent from 08:30 till 13:00. There will be live entertainment, a large variety of stalls including food, and a lucky draw for fabulous prizes to be won.

11 May: Let your creative side show and get involved with the Bridge of Dreams project at the University of the Free State. Bring your own brush and water-based wall paint and be part of livening up the city. Contact Liesel at 083-400-2864 for more information.

12 May: Enjoy the perfect Mother’s Day spoil with a brunch at the Botanical Gardens in Bloemfontein from 12:00. Tickets are R480 per person and include a painting kit, a foot massage, a drink and braai (lunch). For reservations, contact 064-805-0629.

18 May: Locals are invited to the Eco-Vehicle Race presented by the University of the Free State’s Kovsie ACT to show support to the students who will be competing in three events – the obstacle course, smart lap, and the endurance race. Join from 10:00 to 13:00 at the Red Square Parking on the UFS Bloemfontein Campus. A buffet meal, champagne at the door and canapés will round off an opulent evening. Tickets are available from Quicket at R490 per person.
