Pastor arrested for alleged fraud

A PROMINENT religious leader is among 16 people taken into custody in two separate arrests last week for crime syndicate involvement.
North West Premier Thandi Modise welcomed the arrest and urged communities to be on the lookout for wolves in sheep’s skins. According to a statement, the Hawks arrested Cornerstone Ministries Bishop Dingaan Selabe, 45, and eight others for allegedly defrauding high profile victims of more than R12-million through a fictitious tender scam.
The nine had their first appearance in the Mahikeng Magistrate’s Court and are expected to apply for bail on Friday.
In the other syndicate, two Nigerian ringleaders were among those arrested and police confiscated drugs worth more than R40-million, as well as vehicles worth R1,4-million and close-on R200-thousand in cash.
