Parkweg police to hold an imbizo

The Park Road police are inviting residents to attend the community imbizo.

According to police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, this is following the recent release of crime statistics. He says it was evident that crime incidents continued on an upward trend in the Park Road policing precinct, despite the best efforts of the police and the Community Policing Forum (CPF).

“The Parkweg CPF Chairperson, John Malindi, felt that there is still an opportunity for the police and the CPF to arrest the situation and fight crime in a co-ordinated and disciplined fashion,” he says.

Marope adds that to this end, the Parkweg Police and CPF would like to invite the residents of the greater Bloemfontein and other public stakeholders to attend a community Imbizo. He says the aim is to map a way forward and work together to find solutions on how we can collectively and jointly deal with different forms crime affecting our community.

“The Station Commander of Park Road, Brigadier Khothatso Ramokotjo, said the partnership with the community comes at the right time and will be put to test as we are preparing for the approaching festive season. He further said it will be first to acknowledge that the police alone cannot solve the crime situation in the Park Road areas and we need to partner with those that are affected to find workable solutions,” says Marope.

He says they are confident that the strong partnership with the community will be felt by those with any criminal intentions in the coming festive season period.

The Imbizo will take place at the Park Road Police Station Officer’s Club on Wednesday.

This statement was issued by the Park Road Police Station Communication Unit.
