The best job goes to the person who can get it done without passing the buck or coming back with excuses. This saying was coming from the Cluster Commander of Parkweg, Major General Phumzo Gela after cluster scooped an award at the Free State Operational Services award ceremony.
The glamorous award event was held on 19 May,2016 in Ficksburg. During the award ceremony, the Parkweg Cluster was named the “The Best Cluster of the Year”. It succeeded by walking away with four trophies under different categories as follows;
- Crime Prevention Efficiency
- Component Efficiency
- Operational Efficiency
- Complaints and reaction time
The cluster commander, Major General Gela, said he dedicated the awards to all Parkweg cluster stations and thanked the support from the station commanders serving under his management. He also appreciated the members on the ground for their efforts and community for its assistance by providing information to the police that it played a vital role in the achievement to make cluster an award-winning cluster.
Major General Gela, took over the Parkweg cluster stations as the commander in February 2015. His presence has brought enormous changes in the cluster. He managed to push the cluster to position one in the Province in terms of good service delivery, crime reduction and promoting community safety. After he was appointed as the new cluster commander, he brought new strategies for fighting crime. Members working under his command are enjoying his strategies and following his work guidelines. He also encouraged his members to strive towards service excellence and to sustain the position obtained in the coming year.
Amongst other responsibilities, Major General Gela is supervising, monitoring and controlling the nine Parkweg-Cluster stations. These stations are Parkweg, Navilsig, Bayswater,Bainsvlei, Tierpoort,Petrusburg,Dealsville, Soutpan and Boschoff.
