Members of Parkweg Crime Prevention Bike Squad embarked on execution of different operational concepts in light of Operation Shanela earlier during the week. The team patrolled along N1 National Road conducting stop and search at hiking spots.
According to spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Thabo Covane, at about 09:30 the members spotted two males hitchhiking in the southern direction.
“The team stopped and requested permission to search the two suspects. Wrapped packages were found inside a Grey traveling bag. The first package contained dried leaves of dagga which was later weighed at 919 grams,” Covane confirmed.

Covane further mentioned that the estimated street value of the dagga seized is R5 000.00. The other package was opened and 398 full Mandrax tablets were found. The estimated street value of the 680 grams of Mandrax is R23 800.00.
“The two males aged 21 and 34 were arrested for possession of drugs. They will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Thursday 7 June 2024,” Covane concluded.
