A unique event is coming in town that lets people not only enjoy art but be a part of it. A Paint and Sip will be hosted at Naval Hill on Saturday 31 October, where, guided by a professional artist, Bloemfontein art lovers can paint on canvas while enjoying great wine.
According to organiser Olerato Mongale, the event will be a shared experience that is different to a majority of offerings on the local entertainment calendar. “There’s not much to do if you don’t like clubbing or loud music. So I got the idea from my time overseas, where there were events for expats to mingle and socialise in a time when they feel alone.”
She expressed that the event is for everyone but it’s perfect for people who like to enjoy a relaxing day out. “It’s a shared experience that doesn’t involve big groups or uncomfortable interactions. People are encouraged to interact but if you feel that you want to spend time concentrating on your painting, you can do that as well,” explained Mongale.
Since returning to South Africa, Mongale has found a passion in creating special events around the city including a Mom and Me High Tea with a family psychologist as a guest speaker. “I realised that I really like creating events because when I find something enjoyable I like to share it with other people,” she said.
“I’m inviting people to come and enjoy something that they could live to remember and at the end of it they will have a piece of their own art to take home,” added Mongale.
The Paint and Sip will take place at Naval Hill on Saturday 31 October from 12:00. A ticket costs R500, with lunch included. To attend, contact Mongale on 066 174 1315.
