Oscar Pistorius placed on Parole

In a statement released by the Department of correctional services, it has been confirmed that Oscar Pistorius will be placed on parole from 5 January 2024.

According to the Department, Oscar Pistorius was convicted in 2014 on charges of culpable homicide. “The case went through a number of appeals and was eventually ratified to 13 years and 5 months in 2017. The parole placement decision was taken by the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB), having assessed Pistorius’ profile and other material submitted for the purposes of parole consideration.”

The media statement further mentions that Pistorius will spend the rest of his sentence in the system of community corrections and will be supervised in compliance with parole conditions until his sentence expires.
