One dead after head-on collision on N1


One person has died and two others were left with moderate to minor injuries following an accident on the N1 South outside Bloemfontein in the Free State on Wednesday.
Provincial Emergency Medical Services spokesperson, Sipho Towa, told OFM News that the accident occurred in close proximity to a filling station along the N1 between the Kenneth Kaunda Road and Nelson Mandela Drive off-ramps.
Towa said two vehicles collided with one another just before 17:30 on Wednesday afternoon, leaving one person dead.
A second person had to be freed from one of the vehicles using the Jaws of Life, while a third sustained minor injuries.
According to Towa, the two survivors of the accident were taken to the Bloemfontein Mediclinic for medical attention.
Traffic was disturbed while the accident scene was being attended to, but it had been confirmed that traffic was flowing freely on the N1 South on Thursday. – Olebogeng Motse/OFM News
