Bloemfontein. – One person was arrested for public violence after a member of the police in Meloding in Virginia has been injured and a vehicle damaged, when a march by residents turned violent, when handing over a memorandum to the Matjhabeng Municipality.
According to police spokesperson Malebo Khosana, residents no longer wants to be part of the Matjhabeng Municipality, and after handing over the memorandum, also damaged various properties.
A stun grenade and rubber bullets were used to disperse the rowdy crowd.
“Medical personell treated the officer at the scene and he is fine. The situation in Meloding is calm and under control at the moment, but police are monitoring the situation and we hope that it will remain that way,” Khosana added.
