Oliewenhuis Art Museum’s Kiddies Holiday Workshops


The Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein will be holding art workshops for children over the age of 5 years old in Bloemfontein from 5 July – 11 July 2017, from 12:00 to 15:00 on these days. The classes will cost R60 per child per class and all materials will be provided.

The itinerary for the workshops is as follows:

Wednesday, 5 July 2017
Sounds of Africa: Come and create your own Africa-inspired Bongo drums with found objects.

Thursday, 6 July 2017
Birds of Africa: Create your own rainbow-coloured bird-like wings for all your playing adventures.

Friday, 7 July 2017
Wire Trees: Learn the craft of wire sculpture and construct your own wire tree decorated with colourful paper-constructed birds.

Monday, 10 July 2017
Paint with Nature: Painting with organic materials such as leaves and feathers is fun!
Come and paint your own landscape scene using organic stencils like feathers, branches and flowers.

Tuesday, 11 July 2017
Elephant Pull Toy: The elephant is seen as one of Africa’s most precious giants.
For this project creativity and playing will be combined!
An elephant toy will be created and decorated with patterns found on traditional African textiles.

Please bring your own apron or old clothes as well as your own packed lunches.
Every craft class will be combined with a free ride on the African Carousel.
Booking is essential as only a limited number of participants can be accommodated.
