Join the National Museum at Oliewenhuis Art Museum on 24 September to celebrate Heritage Month with a few offerings at the art museum in commemoration of the national public holiday from 10:00 to 15:00.
According to a statement, the National Museum is not only celebrating the cultural richness and diversity of our nation, it also celebrates and recognises the invaluable role of other museums, galleries and heritage sites in the preservation and promotion of our heritage and their contribution to the economy, education, enjoyment, reflection and knowledge sharing.
Locals are invited to prepare a delightful picnic and soak up the sun in the front garden, before or after appreciating the diverse art exhibitions on show.
“A DJ will provide a variety of background music and there will be a few stalls selling food, snacks and refreshments. Take a stroll through the Sculpture Park or the walking trails. For the little ones, there’s the unique African Carousel, offering rides for just R5 each, ensuring that everyone has a memorable and enjoyable experience. All attending is encouraged to wear heritage-related and proudly South African attire,” reads the statement.
There will be a few exhibitions on show in the main building and the reservoir, where each exhibition is curated to captivate your imagination, challenge your perceptions, and inspire your creativity.
Parking costs R10 per vehicle, cash only. There will also be African Carousel rides at R5 per ride per child.
