Several women rescued from a brothel in Klerksdorp in North West yesterday, have been moved to a place of safety, while others have been released.

Hawks acting spokesperson, Manase Phukubye, says while they were questioning them it was revealed that some of the women were tortured and abused.

The brothel where the 24 women were rescued yesterday is apparently the same place where they had rescued 26 young children and women in December.

Phukubye says two male foreign nationals will appear in court soon, on charges of theft of medical equipment and human trafficking.

Another group of six men who were found without valid South African documents are currently in custody of the Home Affairs Immigration Department for further investigations.

Phukubye says while they were questioning the women it was revealed that some of the women were tortured and abused.
