Not all nominated members will make it-Analyst

Political analyst Theo Venter says a lot of people who are on the ANC candidate list will not make it to parliament.

The ANC has announced this week that they will only reveal the names of candidates nominated for the national and provincial government, once an election date has been confirmed.

Speculations have been rife, on what actions will the party take on those elected candidates, who have pending criminal cases. Venter says it remains unclear who will be on the finalized list.

“There a lot of names, such the old president Thabo Mbeki and obviously he won’t go to parliament. So hopefully the national list conference will have to weed out the poor candidate and will have to keep the good one. Once that is finished we can then look at who are the difficult people, who are those people who are going to provide problems in the media and so on,” says Venter.

It has been reported that there is a leaked candidate list that confirms President Jacob Zuma and his close allies coming out on top after the ANC’s national list conference last weekend.
