There is no water or electricity close to the prestigious Oubos Estate north of Bloemfontein, after the eruption of a massive fire on Thursday afternoon.

It was reliably learnt that the fire was caused while maintenance work was being done on the electricity network. A spark allegedly set alight the veld and moderate winds lead to the fire spreading.

“I can confirm that my water connection as well as my electrical wiring were burnt away. Having that effect that I have no electricity and water at this stage. According to the plumbers and the electricians that came to assess the situation, they said it could probably take a week for the situation to be fixed,” said resident, Hardie Viviers.
