No injuries caused by fire at Busamed hospital

A medical ward at a private hospital in Bloemfontein in the Free State shut down after a fire broke out on Thursday night, 12 September 2019.

Busamed Bram Fischer International Airport Hospital manager, Johannes Jacobs, says the investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the blaze. He says curtains and bed linen were damaged minimally.

Jacobs adds no injuries were reported and all patients were evacuated and placed in an open ward to accommodate those affected. He further says they have started cleaning up the ward and that all operations will continue as normal.

Jacobs says their emergency rescue workers acted quickly and managed to contain the fire. He says once the cause of the fire has been identified more information will be shared.
