No arrests yet after Oranjeville attack

The Free State police are yet to arrest suspects linked to the brutal murder of a 68-year-old man following an attack at his place of residence in Oranjeville, near Deneysville, on Friday.

OFM News reports that Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says [none of the three gun-wielding men] have been arrested so far. She says the police are, however, continuing with their manhunt for these attackers who invaded the house of an elderly couple aged 68 and 67 and stabbed the man four times.

The three robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash, two guns and drove off with the vehicle of the couple after the brutal attack. They allegedly tied the deceased’s hands and feet, threatened and demanded money from the wife (67), who took them to the garage where the safe was. Mbambo previously said the husband was declared dead at the scene.

The 68-year-old man and his 67-year-old wife were sleeping when the suspects, armed with guns, entered the house. The husband was stabbed four times during a tussle with one of the suspects. The suspects are said to have taken an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s safe and also two pistols after forcing the wife to a safe in a garage.

The suspects are said to have fled the scene with the victim’s VW Polo with registration number HGX 515 FS. The police have urged anyone with information to call the Station Commander, Captain Patience Mahlatsi, at 082-465-3012 or Detective Constable Motloung at 073-982-8902/016-974-6841. “They can also call Crime Stop at 08600-10111, alternatively send information via MySAPS App,” Mbambo further added.
