No arrests in Grootvlei cash-in-transit heist

No arrests have been made yet after the cash-in-transit heist which took place on the R702 road in Bloemfontein, about 15 kilometres from the Grootvlei prison.
This is according to Hawks spokesperson, S’fiso Nyakane, who says investigations into the matter are still ongoing. “Yesterday we received a call that a Fidelity vehicle was stopped and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money by seven men who drove in a white Mercedes-Benz E-class AMG with no number plates,” Nyakane says.
Three shots were fired during the heist and three R5 cartridges were found on the scene. No injuries were reported. The police are still looking for the suspects who fled in the direction of Bloemfontein.
Nyakane says the Hawks are appealing to members of the public who might have information to come forward, and contact the investigating officer on this case, Babane Skhota, at 079-509-4998. – Pulane Choane
