Nkausu doubtful for Japan Friendly

LEE KHOTLELE

Bloemfontein Celtic defender, Davies Nkausu, is one of three players doubtful to take part in the Zambia’s international friendly game against Japan on Friday, June 6, due to an injury.

Nkausu, who is nursing a hamstring injury, is joined by Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper and Zambian captain, Kennedy Mweene and China-based James Chamanga on the injury list.

The PSL league champion is said to have sustained a hamstring injury in the Brazilians 1-0 win over Namibia’s African Stars in a friendly match played on Sunday, 25 May.

National coach, Patrice Beaumelle, said that the Zambian skipper would be going to the hospital on Thursday to assess his injury and the decision would be made thereafter.

Meanwhile Chamanga, formerly from Moroka Swallows, is also suffering from an ankle injury and could also join striker Fwayo Tembo and midfielder Mukuka Mulenga on the side-line.

Mukuka has been withdrawn on medical grounds following his recent recovery from a 10-month injury lay-off while Fwayo has been excused so that he can sort out his affairs with Romanian club Astra FC, after dumping the club last August following a bust-up with the clubs president.

The Central African team kicked off their training camp at Barclays Sports Complex in Lusaka ahead of their friendly match in the USA, in Tampa, Florida.
