Nigerian national arrested in possession of drugs

A 21 year old Lesotho national was caught on the R30 road in Allanridge with over 19 bags of dagga, estimated to be worth over R300 000.

Free State police arrested a Nigerian national after he was found in possession of drugs on Friday.

Police spokesperson Maako Mophiring says police stopped and searched a 37-year-old Nigerian man, while they were busy with operational duties in Setsing Shopping Complex, in Qwaqwa.

The man is believed to be from Imo state in Nigeria. Mophiring says four pieces of drugs wrapped with black plastics, small digital scale and small plastic dagga were found in his possession.

A case of possession of drugs is being investigated. he man is expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Phuthaditjhaba Mounted Unit received information during their patrols on same operations of a person keeping and selling dagga art a certain house in the area. Mophiring says police followed up on the information and found 0,174kg of dagga at specified house.

“The man was arrested and a case of possession of dagga is being investigated. He will appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court on Monday.”
