New school to be opened by President Ramaphosa

A state of the art school will be officially opened by President Cyril Ramaphosa in Welkom on Sunday. According to Free State Department of Education spokesperson Howard Ndaba, about R57 million was injected into building the school.

“The state of the art school has 24 classrooms. 3 science laboratories, a media centre, School Nutrition Programme Centre and a hall,” explained Ndaba.

The President will officially open Adelaide Tambo Secondary school in Thabong, Welkom on his tour of the province this weekend. During this time he will meet about 10 000 grade 11 and 12 learners in at Charles Mopeli Stadium in the Thabo Mofutsanyane District on Saturday.

Ndaba stated that President Ramaphosa will be accompanied by Premier Sisi Ntombela and Education MEC Dr Tate Makgoe. “The meeting with the learners will form part of the provincial government’s outreach programme to bring government closer to the people and improve service delivery,” said Ndaba.

According to ANC in the Free State President Ramaphosa will also attend a Fundraising Gala Dinner in Bloemfontein on Saturday. This is before he will visit various areas in the city to canvas the party and profile service delivery.

The president will also handover a newly built house in Phase 10 on Sunday before addressing the ANC Women’s League at the Mangaung Indoor Sports Centre. – Nomaqhawe Mtebele
