The Northern Cape Treasury Department will spend R3 million on a new 10- or 15-seater flight project.
The department’s HOD, Bakang Moya, says it is hard for public bearers to travel around the vast province they live in. He says a feasibility study was done last year regarding the new flight system that will be established in the province. These are some of the provincial budget adjustment plans that MEC John Block announced during the week in Kimberley.
R20 million will be allocated to municipalities with temporary consultants to assist them on how to manage their finances. Moya says Sol Plaatje Municipality will also receive R12 000 million for cleaning, R3 million for fixing potholes and R18 million for the Gordonia Hospital in Upington to start operating.
“If you have to travel from Kimberley to Springbok you will probably take the whole day. We will have flights for the premier, her team and officials to fly to some of these areas. The department will announce the full details as we move forward,” says Moya.
