The well-known Bloemfontein conductor and education specialist, Werner Stander, has been appointed as the new music director (conductor) of the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir.
According to a media statement by the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir, a new era in the choir’s journey is ensured with this appointment. The Bloemfontein, Free State and South African choir community can be assured of excellent quality choral singing as the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir once again takes its place on the stages of the country.
Stander says that being the conductor of the Bloemfontein Children’s Choir is a lifelong dream of his. “Music is a lifestyle for me and it is my vision to give a holistically edifying choir experience to the members of the choir. It is important that the choir contributes to the local cultural community but also takes its place nationally and internationally.”
According to the statement, Stander is currently Director of Music at the Primary Oranje Girls’ School and has already left deep footprints as a conductor. He had already made his debut as a conductor in 2006. He was also elected chairman of the Free State Eisteddfod vocals and choir sections for 2021.
The choir management, in collaboration with the music director, will soon launch an electronic audition event for children (boys and girls) between the ages of 9 – 17. There will also be opportunities for more traditional audition events. Residents are urged to keep their eye on social media –
