Negotiations reached with schools regarding #ElectricityCrisis

Certain schools in the Free State’s electricity has been restored after some learners have been without electricity for months due to the non-payment of the Free State Department of Education.

Some of the schools that were affected include Pellissier Combined School and its hostel, Wonga Lethu Secondary School, Lephoi Primary School, as well as Nzame Primary School.

Centlec’s spokesperson, Lele Mamathu, told OFM News that there have been negotiations with the schools to pay their accounts,and for now electricity will be restored.

Meanwhile, the Free State Department of Education’s spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, has still not responded to OFM News’ questions regarding subsidies that needed to be paid to schools.

Meanwhile, OFM News spoke to an employee at the Wonga Lethu School, who says they have just made a R50 000 electricity payment to Centlec.
