Northern Cape communities will soon breathe a sigh of relief as the provincial government plans to upgrade schools’ infrastructure, and ensure there are adequate resources and safer school environments for the 2020 academic year.

Through the “Love Your School Campaign”, Premier Zamani Saul and Education MEC Mac Jack, are amongst others aiming to address the scourge of violence in schools, overcrowding and lack of discipline.

The campaign set to be launched on Friday in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District is expected to see parents and guardians getting more involved in schools and working closely with the department to ensure that the many social ills affecting schools in the province are addressed.

Jack has, during the announcement of matric results, reiterated the province’s plan to improve the quality of education and be the top-performing province. He said this could, however, be achieved once parents get more involved and work with the department to ensure that school environments become conducive for learning and teaching. The campaign is expected to be launched by Saul at the Moshaweng Secondary School located in Loopeng, Mothibistad.
