All national flags at governmental buildings in the Free State are currently flown at half-mast in honour of the late speaker of the Free State, Sisi Mabe.

This is according to provincial government spokesperson Mondli Mvambi. He explained that national flags will be flown at half-mast from Friday until the evening of the day of the funeral. At Mabe’s burial site the flag will also be flown half-mast.

Mvambi said the province will commemorate Mandela’s one-year passing at Mabe’s district memorial service that is held at Sasolburg, Multi Purpose Centre. Mabe will have an official provincial funeral on Saturday in Heilbron, Phiritona Sports Complex. She died at the age of 47 on Sunday at Mediclinic Vereeniging after a long illness.
