Narrating dreams through performance

Local theatregoers are to brace for an energetic and electric performance that will take them on a journey of a world unseen.

Supported by Standard Bank and the National Arts Council of South Africa, Ditoro is a dance production by Thamsanqa Majela, who believes that dance and movement are both silent, yet a loud form of communication. “Whether you understand it or not, you will feel it,” he expressed.

According to Majela, Ditoro translated as ‘dream’ in English, follows a dream state narrative that explores the state of sleep.

“Dreams allow us to understand our reality and to make sense of situations that are complex. Moreover, dreams tell us of things that we have not seen or ignored in our lives,” he said.

The production will be showcased at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) on 30 May – 1 June at 18:00. Tickets are available from R100.
