Namaqualand flowers in full bloom
This year’s flower season in Namaqualand in the Northern Cape has started late August and is set to end later in September.

This is despite a long, drawn-out drought that hit the region that was further accompanied by a heatwave. Mike Spies from Namaqua Tours, however, says these harsh conditions did not affect the ‘green flower paradise’.

The season lasts for a month and is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Northern Cape. Spies says the Oliphant River’s Valley, Namaqua National Park, and Kamiesberg Mountains currently has very beautiful flowers in full bloom.
