N3 closed due to palm oil spill

GALOOME SHOPANE The N3 at Van Reenen’s pass has been closed due to a palm oil spill that happened this morning when two trucks collided.

Andy Visser, spokesperson says clean up operations are still underway. Visser says palm oil is difficult to remove from the road particularly in cold conditions that they are experiencing in Van Reenen’s pass.

“All services are on the scene trying to get the cleanup process as quickly as possible, but the cleanup process is a very long one,” says Visser.

She says “the cleanup started early this morning, first was the discovering of the vehicles and mock-up operations continued after that.”

She says they have doing this consistently since around 1’o clock this morning.

Visser says no casualties or injuries were reported.
