Bloemfontein-based band, Colourful Souls, is a group of musicians who mix fun and creativity with music which brings joy to the soul. The band was founded in 2014 by Oluwakayode Abimbola, also known as Kayswiss, and has grown immensely since then.
It is surely becoming a “must hear” in the Free State and South Africa at large.
According to Abimbola, the name “Colourful Souls” was coined from the passionate and happy tunes and melodies they felt when they were making music.
“We loved how we would get lost in the colour of music during a jam session we had. We then decided to form a band that brings colour to souls and leave them feeling joy, peace and love through listening to our music.”
The band has shared a stage with some of South Africa’s biggest names such as The Soil, Thandiswa Maswayi, Tshepo Tshola, Vusi Nova, Leno Sekobela, Musa, John Paka, Melodee pryce and Nelo to name a few. The band, which has over the years have become like family shares its love for music and consists of students and workers. When they are not out on gigs, studies or work, they spend spend time together encouraging one another and laughing together.
“We are passionate about making music that is accepted and loved by all. But mostly, we love it when people experience a magical feeling that makes them stand up, sing and dance to the music. This is what can be expected from us every time we perform on stage,” Abimbola concluded.
Band members support each other in every way with the profits made from the band gigs and by promoting skills and talents of individuals in the band.
