Municipality: 99% of Bloem households should have water again

LANI FOUCHÉ

The Manguang Metro Municipality says 99% of households in Bloemfontein should have water by now.

Municipal spokesperson Qondile Khedama says pressure might still be low in some areas as reservoir levels are filling up, and he urged consumers to be patient.

Large parts of Bloemfontein have had dry taps since last week due to a burst pipe at the Welbedacht Dam.

He urged residents not to worry if tap water displays a brownish colour, as vacuums in water pipes can cause this.

He says the water has been treated with the necessary chemicals and tested, and is safe for human consumption.

Khedama added that maintenance of the burst pipe along the Dewetsdorp Road is also under control and shouldn’t cause any further water interruptions.
