All around, the pressure has been felt by many due to the constant rise in the cost of essentials such as groceries, school fees, petrol prices, and general living. In efforts to alleviate some of this pressure, MTN gave local vendors “a win” by buying out their stock and gifting them with grocery and data vouchers.

Among the stock that was purchased, were brooms, mops, cups, mugs, plates, Tupperware, knives, spoons, and forks.

The idea behind buying from Bloemfontein’s local vendors was one close to the heart of the General Manager of the Central Region for MTN South Africa, Sunnette Els, as she believes in supporting local businesses.

“I think it is important to generate money within our province and help with the economic growth within the province. So we took this time to make sure that we show support for our local vendors.”

One of the vendors, Makatleho Masiloane, had this to say: “On average not even half of my stock is sold per day so to have so much sold today means the world to me. I also received a grocery voucher which will help me with my monthly groceries, especially now that we are heading into the festive season. I would like to thank MTN for doing this for us, it truly is special.”

“I am very thankful because all my stock was purchased today and I also received a data voucher, as well as a grocery voucher, which will help me a lot so that I can buy much of what my daughter wants. I use MTN so it is very special to see them helping me out today as I have always been a loyal customer,” said Franklin Amadi, another vendor.

As part of their summer campaign, MTN will be giving away a selection of daily data, airtime, fuel, grocery, electricity, and stationery gift vouchers and discount allocations to their customers.

To spread some of that end-of-year cheer, they will have more exciting “wins” for customers throughout the season.
