The top performing learners from Mpatleng Secondary School in T-Section Botshabelo were recently honoured at their annual prize-giving ceremony.
The best learners from all grades were awarded for their good performance. The awards were for all the academic top achievers, as well as participants in sports. The ceremony was done in partnership with ABSA Bank, which awarded the top five academic achievers tablets for their good work.
Grade 12 learner, Kananelo Malefa, said: “I am happy today to get a certificate for being a top performer in maths and accounting. I will be writing the final examination this week and this serves as motivation for me and the other achievers to perform even better.”
Mpatleng Secondary School principal, Kgauhelo Kanapi, said: “The ceremony aims to motivate not only the top performing learners, but also every learner at our school to improve on their school work. We had various awards today, including sports awards, academic awards and the principal award, which has been awarded to a learner that shows leadership and performs well academically. We are aiming to obtain a 100% pass rate in this year’s matric results. We know is not easy but we will work together as a collective to achieve this as a school.”
