Political Analyst Theo Venter said he doesn’t see the possibility of current Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga retaining her position.
Venter added that he also didn’t see the possibilities of University of the Free State rector Jonathan Jansen be given Motshekga’s job.
Venter’s analysis comes just days ahead of the announcement of the new national parliament cabinet. He said there was a rumour surfacing last year that Jansen was in discussion with government over the Basic Education Minister’s job. Venter thinks Jansen is a very unique South African.
“He is a free spirit, he speaks his mind and he is very critical of government on the right issues. But, I don’t think the President Jacob Zuma’s office will be happy to cope with somebody that is so free spirited and direct in his approach. I think they could rather get somebody who is far less outgoing and outspoken for a position of a basic education minister,” said Venter.
