Members of the Cimac Tracing team made a breakthrough after they arrested a 35-year-old wanted suspect at a block of flats in Brandwag, Bloemfontein.
The arrest happened on Tuesday 15 September 2020 when Tumelo David Mosala was arrested after escaping from police on numerous occasions in the past. Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, said that Mosala was first arrested in Fouriesburg back in 2016 for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle. A warrant for his arrest was issued after he had stopped attending court. He has been on the run ever since.
Mosala escaped the arm of the law again when he was arrested with four of his friends during a house robbery in Bainsvlei back in June 2020. “The video footage was obtained after a business robbery and attempted murder incident that took place in Harvey Road, Bloemfontein in July 2020, after the owner was shot in the chest. The suspect and his friends fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash,” said Makhele.
Mosala will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon on three charges of business robbery, two charges of house breaking and theft and a charge of escaping in lawful custody. According to Makhele, further charges and cases are expected to be uncovered.
