Police in Phuthaditjhaba have arrested two more suspected drug dealers this week. This after an alleged drug kingpin and a suspected dealer appeared at the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 3 February 2020, after being found with nyaope and cash.

The police say that on Wednesday 4 February 2020 the Welkom Public Order Police Reaction Team deployed in Phuthaditjhaba noticed suspicious movement of alleged drug peddlers in Beirut at about 15:30. When they approached them, the suspects ran away leaving behind a Black Citi Golf.

Police kept surveillance on the vehicle until at about 20:00 when two men arrived to take the vehicle. Members approached them on foot and ordered them to switch off the vehicle but the men drove away.

The police, who were on foot then called for back-up, and they drove around searching for the vehicle and located it at about 22:30 in Boiketlo village. After searching the house and the vehicle, police found nyaope sachets and an undisclosed amount of cash. Live ammunition was also found.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs and the unlawful possession of ammunition. Police then proceeded to a house in Sebokeng and arrested a 25-year-old man for dealing in drugs after nyaope sachets and cash were found in his possession.

Both suspects will appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate’s Court soon.
