The Department of Drama and Theatre Arts at the University of the Free State (UFS) is proud to present Caesar by William Shakespeare. This production will be directed by Thys Heydenrych and will be performed by the second-year Drama students. This production will be both in Afrikaans and English, with the main character being portrayed by a woman.

Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar is unique due to the lack of both villains and heroes. This adapted political thriller tells the story of the conspiracy against Caesar, her assassination and the defeat of her conspirators. The adaptation explores the ideas of women and leadership, political turmoil, fear and betrayal.

This production will take place at the Wynand Mouton Theatre on the UFS campus from 21 November until 23 November at 119:30. The tickets are R40 per person, R30 for students and R25 for pensioners and they are available from Computicket.
