Moqhaka municipal manager requested to resign

REFILWE MEKOA

The Moqhaka Municipal Manager in Kroonstad was asked to resign.

Free State Premier Ace Magashule announced onThursday for the dismissal of Simon Moqwathi. According to Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs HOD Victor Duma, Magashule doesn’t have the power to dismiss a municipal official.

He said the premier was emphasizing on all municipalities that they can no longer afford to have residents complain about lack or poor service delivery due to incompetent municipal officials.

Duma emphasized that more officials and politicians will be requested to leave their positions if they don’t perform. He insisted that Moqwathi is not yet dismissed, but he has been asked to resign as Moqhaka needed to find a strong person to operate it.

“What the premier announced yesterday at the meeting with the Minister of Water and Sanitation, was that municipalities that are not performing according to their expectations. They would request that senior managers in those municipalities who are found to be the stabling block to service delivery to actually resign or try another position,” said Duma.
