Modise confident ahead of KZN Championships

LEE KHOTLELE

Following major success he endured at the recent 2014 Gauteng Masters Championships in Pretoria, the South African runner Norman Modise is hoping for the same performance when he takes the field at the Kwazulu-Natal Senior and Masters Championships at the King’s Park Stadium on Friday.

Speaking to Courant Sport, Modise, who bagged gold medals in the 3000m as well in the 1500m races in Pretoria, is hopeful he will keep the momentum going.

“I have prepared myself for this race. I was satisfied with my performance in Pretoria, and will work hard to put in the same performance in KZN,” he added.

The Bloemfontein-based runner will take part in the 10 000m and 5000m races on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Meanwhile, Modise highlighted he had a lot on his plate. He has already started preparing for next month’s South African Masters Championships to be held in Rustenburg.

He said these races are a great way of preparing for September’s National Cross-Country in PE, which involves seniors, juniors and masters.

“I take every race I participate in as a way of preparing for the next one. The Gauteng Championships was my preparation for the KZN one, and this is definitely the preparation for next month’s,” concluded Modise.
