Modelling all the way to the top

Arthur Browne, former model of Bloemfontein who started his modelling career right after completing school, has achieved a lot of victories during his career and is still doing big things in the industry.

Browne was a Top Model SA finalist and is also the managing director of V-models. According to him, his biggest achievement thus far is his appointment as the Regional Director of Pageants SA and Africa Pageants for the Free State. “Since 2011, I have been modelling all the way. I have done Free State Fashion Week for two consecutive years. All these experiences have led me to where I am today, to give back and to inspire younger models to gain more knowledge about the industry,” he said.

As Regional Director, his responsibilities include getting entries for the pageant as well as organising the entire event. Browne told Bloemfontein Courant what he personally looks for in the perfect model is a person who is confident, a person who has a passion for people and for his/her community, someone who believes in making a difference.

It is not necessarily about being the most beautiful or the tallest model. Browne lives by the quote “never give up”. He added that it might sound cliché but it is relevant to anyone who is striving to do something. He grabs every opportunity he gets with both hands and his dream is to grow and become better. He especially wants to broaden the number of male models in the Free State since the market for them is limited.

“There is a stigma behind being a model, because to some people models are not necessarily smart. That is the stigma I would like to break, so I want to enlighten male models about the industry and motivate them to choose modelling”, he added.
