Free State Health MEC Benny Malakoane hopes the Health Indaba will adopt mechanisms that will change the behaviour of residents and health system providers by achieving better life outcomes.

Malakoane was speaking at the launch of the two-day health indaba at President Hotel, Bloemfontein on Monday. He hopes some of the issues that the indaba will focus on are the balance between the supply and demand that the department gets as there are limited resources available. Malakoane explained that the indaba should also examine the department’s resource allocation, distribution and efficiency of public spending.

“I would like this to be an open, free and fair discussion session to enable and empower us as the department of health, to continue to do the good work that we always endeavoured to do. I would venture to think that we are this gold that is exposed to fairness or a form of inferno that we had to experience for the past few months,” he said.
