MCCI introduces foreign trade opportunities

Maricelle Botha

The Mangaung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is hosting two delegations in the days to come. This forms part of an extended programme to introduce their members and businesses in the community to the opportunities presented through official foreign delegations.  The first trade delegation from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) will visit the city on March 6, with a breakfast the next morning at 8:30 at Emoya Estate. This business breakfast is to highlight business and investment opportunities with Malaysia.

The MIDA is the Malaysian Government’s principal agency for the promotion of manufacturing and services in Malaysia. The wide range of services provided by MIDA includes providing information on the opportunities for investments, as well as facilitating companies which are looking for joint venture partners. The second visit to the city on March 12 will be by his Excellency, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of South Africa, Dr Hisham Al Alawi. He will address a business breakfast on March 13 for MCCI members and the business community at large. The Ambassador and President of MCCI have been negotiating to host a trade delegation in Mangaung since last year.

The information Al Alawai will share include investment opportunities between the two countries, infrastructure projects and opportunities for Free State companies to help re-build Iraq, the rebuilding of hospitals and health system and lessons learnt in terms of new democracies and empowering previously disadvantaged groups. If you want to exhibit products or would like to attend these business breakfasts, contract Juanita or Desia at the MCCI’s office on 051-447-3363/9 or by email on admin@bbcci.co.za.
